After you park your car, and step out into the parking lot, look for a stone archway. It should be in front of the parking lot, leading up to the RV resort and campground. Begin here.

Walk through the archway, turn right, and walk 25 steps towards the grey building.

Once you reach the building, turn at a 90-degree angel to face the steps, take 7 steps towards the stairs and walk up them.

You should see a porch swing to your left and a big maple tree in front of you. Follow the stone path until you reach the fork.

Turn right, follow the pavement, until the pavement stops, and you’re on a gravel drive.

Once you’re on the gravel, walk across it until you come to a dirt path, next to a stone walk-thru.

Follow the dirt path until you see an electrical box at the base of a pole, turn to your right and you will see a small archway. Climb down through it and continue walking inside.

Notice the stone seats, feel free to sit and enjoy the scenery.

Continue walking, until you come to 2 sets of stairs. Take the ones to your right.

From the bottom step, take 10 steps to reach the big tree, near the stone circle.

Turn 90 degrees to your left, and take 10 steps to the stone platform.

Once you’ve reached the stone platform, turn right, and walk approximately 18 feet to the well.

Once you’ve reached the well, turn around, to face the platform again.

Take 3 paces until you are parallel to the short stone column, then walk towards the boulder about 6 feet away.

Once you’re at the boulder, look for a stone pillar in the middle of a circle garden, outlined in an assortment of rocks, walk towards it.

Make two counterclockwise circles around the rock, then stop and face the stump.

Take about three paces towards it, and face the porch.

Take 5 strides to the porch, proceed to climb up the stairs, and turn to your right.

Walk on the porch until you come to the door labeled “Main Lodge.”
Enter the lodge and politely wipe your feet on the mat.

Look for the giant stone fireplace, and walk towards it.

Notice the display, and the fine architecture.

Turn right, and locate the small door, opposite to the one you entered from, walk until you’re directly in front of it.

Turn to your right, and follow the banister downstairs.

When you reach the bottom level, face the big desk, and walk over to it. Feel free to sign the registry.

Turn 45 degrees to your left and walk towards the display case. Inside the case are old artifacts, found inside the cave.

The cave was first discovered by 2 young boys who were rabbit hunting with their dog in 1879.

After the boys discovered the cave, The Zirkles’ began giving candlelit tours.

In 1919, Colonel Brown bought the caverns, and had lights installed. It was allegedly the first cave to ever have electric lighting.

Turn around, and walk past the stairs leading down to two big doors, this is the cave exit used on tours.

The cave has been explored by many spelunkers, and has been mapped for more than 5 miles, but no end has ever been found.

Continue walking until you reach the purple amethyst, admire its beauty, but please do NOT touch it.

Turn around and walk back upstairs, as you’re walking up the steps, look to your left, and notice the mammoth fossil, which is over one million years old.

Continue walking until you reach the counter, and turn right.

Walk until you reach the fireplace again.

Turn left, and walk to the camping supply corner, look out the window, turn around at a 180-degree angle, and face the dolphins on the display shelf.

While standing there turn slightly to your left and look for, “The Ice Cream Parlor”, “The Snow Drift”, “The Oriental Palace”, and “The Two Columns.”

Once you see them, you should also see a single crate below them with a display on top.

Crouch down, and reach behind the crate.

Kudos! You’ve found it!

After your parents have parked your car, and it’s safe to unbuckle your seat belt, step out of your car.

Welcome to Endless Caverns. Caverns are like lots of caves that are linked together by hallways in the rocks.

Look for a stone arch. Once you’ve found it, carefully make your way with your parents through the parking lot until you’re standing under it.

Walk underneath it, and turn right so that you are facing the big grey house.

Run over and stand in front of the very corner of the house. Then, turn to your right, and face the stone stairway right beside the house. Take seven BIG steps over to them, and then go upstairs.

Stop at the top of the stairs, and make sure that the tall tree is in front of you and that the swing on the porch is to your left.

Follow the stone path until it goes in three directions. Take a right turn, and follow it until you reach the paved road.

Next, turn left and follow the pavement until there is a small dirt trail to your right. Follow this until you see a pole with a grey electric box at the bottom. Be sure not to touch this, it could be very dangerous.

Enter the tunnel-like building through a small arch in front of this box. As you walk through the tunnel, notice the small seats on the wall. Feel free to sit down, and look around. The woods can be very pretty.

Continue on in the tunnel until you get to two sets of stairs-a thin one to your left, and a wider one to your right. Take the ones on your right.

Stop after you set your feet on the ground. Jump like a frog fifteen times to reach the stone circle in the ground. Stand in the center. Turn so that you are facing 9 o’ clock, and hop like a bunny until you get to the rock platform.

Look to your right for a well. Do the grapevine until you reach its wall. Jump up to touch the roof, and then turn so you can see the platform again.

Take three steps so that the small stone pillar is on your left. Walk over to the big rock close to it, and then look a bit to your left at the tall rock pillar.

Run as fast as you can to the pillar, and stop outside the circle around it. Now, skip counterclockwise around the ring two times plus one. Now stop.

Look at the lonely tree stump, and walk over to it. Jump on top of it, and do a little dance with a smile.

The trees in Virginia are called deciduous trees. That means that they have lots of leaves, instead of looking like a Christmas tree.

Jump down, and take 5 steps to the porch. Climb the two stairs so that you are standing on it.

Turn to your right, and skip again until you see a door on your left. Make sure the sign over it says “Main Lodge.”

Open the door and enter the building. Take a moment to stop and wipe your feet on the mat, that way the floor stays clean.

Look to the back of the room to see a giant stone fireplace. Walk over to it, and be careful, that way nothing gets broken.

Turn to your right. Stand on your tiptoes to see a glass door opposite the one you came in. Walk over to it.

Next, look to your right to see a banister for the stairs. Follow it until you reach the bottom of the stairs.

Once you are downstairs, make sure you are in front of the desk. Walk over to it. Have a little fun, and wave at your reflection. Your family can also sign the guest book, which is a nice way to practice your cursive.

Next, turn a bit to your left, and hop like a bunny over to the glass cases. These are full of some really cool things from history. While you spend some time learning, feel free to use the bathrooms.

Endless Caverns was first found by two young boys in 1879. They were probably around your age. No one has ever been able to find an end to these caves.

If you pass the big doors beside you, you can look at a pretty purple rock. This is called an amethyst. Make sure that you DO NOT touch it.

Now it’s time to go back upstairs. Take 7 big steps so that you can lean on the counter. Then make your way back to the giant fireplace.

Turn to your left and enter the Camping Corner. Look around for a shelf filled with dolphins, just like Flipper.

When you look around, you will see four posters. All of these are “rooms” inside the caverns, There’s the Ice Cream Parlor, The Snow Drift, Oriental Palace, and The Twin Columns.

Look down at the crate below the posters. Crouch like a tiger getting ready to pounce, and carefully reach behind it.

YAY!!! You’ve found our letterbox.
