Just a short little uphill walk. Good for kids and dogs, too. Just PLEASE re-hide securely!

note: you might want two colors for this stamp (I used orange and black or brown) to stamp with both sides. And a hand-wipe for your hands!

The Manti-LaSal National Forest has lots of horse and cattle country, so the Ropin' Wrangler feels right at home in the Pack Creek area.

From Hwy 191 south of Moab, take Old Airport Rd to the LaSal Mountain Loop Road and turn right onto it. It's about 5.3 miles to Pack Creek Road. In the 2.7 miles from the turn to the sign for the picnic area, you'll pass some fun street names (this is Edward Abbey country, after all): Abbey Rd., Take the Other Road, Seldom Seen Road, and Desert Solitaire Road. You'll also pass the Pack Creek Ranch, which looks like a lovely place to stay and ride while visiting the area.

You'll enter the picnic area and see the restroom. Continue around the hairpin curve and park in the boulder-ringed dirt parking area above and behind the restroom. Across from this parking area, there is an open, boulder-strewn slope leading up to a mountain view. Walk up-slope about 40 steps to two small boulders. Waist-high in the pinyon to your right you will find the wrangler. Carry him up to the rocks with a view to stamp in, and be sure to securely close the bag and re-hide him carefully.
