On March 1, 2007 - the city of Americus was struck by a massive tornado. As I rode around Americus the following day, I noticed in the midst of damage and debris - a statue remained untouched. (There are actually two statues in Reese Park, but this one stood out to me for some reason.) I took this photo of the statue from the back, but you will need to face the gentleman in the statue to find it!
The statue is near the corner of Elm St. and Taylor St. The letterbox is hidden at the base of the statue. (looking at the statue - it is on your righthand side on the corner.) I can't remember the exact wording on the statue, but I know the word closest to the corner I'm talking about is "gray." It is covered by just a bush. Good luck!
