Adult clues
Memorial Park Dr. Timberville, Va 22853
* In memory of Thomas W. Heitz whose leadership and generosity help to make Plains District Memorial Park a reality
June 1960

*Start in the upper parking lot and walk around the area of the old Timberville pool. Walk to the headless statue and look at the beautiful sights around you. Then walk down the road on the hill to the lower parking lot.
*When you get to the parking lot, go to the biggest tree that’s right in front of the volleyball net. Then walk to the first playground.
*Next, walk to the shelter with the chimney.
*While you are at the shelter, enjoy reading the plaques on the wall.
*Walk down in between the walls with stones in the shelter past the bathrooms.
*Stand against or around the wall and look at the magnificent view of the Shenandoah River.
* The Town of Timberville boasts a rich and extensive history; one of the reasons many residents display great pride in their town. Before Timberville was an established town, it was compromised of two forts, one on the west side of town and one on the bank of the Shenandoah River.
* Before the town was called Timberville as it is today, it was known as Williamsport, after Abraham Williamson.
*Take 19 steps from the left corner of the shelter to the double tree.
*Then continue walking taking 14 steps towards the area near the fallen tree. (Watch your step)
*Look for the brown object standing tall out of the ground with the octopus legs.
*Look underneath the octopus legs.
* Over the years, five bridges have been built spanning the river. The dates of the first and second bridges are unknown.
