Address: Corner of Rushville Rd. and Keller Rd. in Dayton.

• When you get to Rushville, go over the bridge a little; the lane you can park at is the first lane on the right, at the opened red gate. Do not block the lane.
• Rushville was named after the Rush family.
• From the car, walk on the far left of the bridge, and walk to the center of it. Now, look out over the bridge.
• The river you are looking at is called Dry River.
• Walk back to the gate. Now walk on the left side of the lane. When you get to the second tree that looks like there are three trees growing out of one, turn and follow the lane to the end of the gravel.
• Rushville was founded in the mid-1800s.
• Follow the dirt path to your right until you get to a fork in the path. Go on the path to your right, the one closest to the river. (Caution: wear sensible shoes, it’s really bumpy terrain.)
• The Rush family established a tannery on Dry River.
• Turn to your right, directly in front of a red brick house. Go between the two trees, and down to the riverbank.
• Due to the lack of waterpower, the tannery on Dry River was unsuccessful. It was later relocated to McGaheysville.
• Take another right and go to the big rock. Now enjoy the view!!! If you look to your right again, you can see the bridge you started out on.
• Dry River is known to go completely bone dry during the summer months.
• Now, walk in the opposite direction; follow the riverbank upstream until you come to a “v” in the river.
• Now go back down stream and look to the right until you see a trail. If you’ve reached the big rock where you’ve observed the river, you’ve gone too far.
• Take the trail up, until you see a big log lying across two very small hills.
• Walk uphill to the base of the trunk and follow the part that has fallen down.
• While you’re walking, look underneath of the tree where the tree is broken in half. Walk about ten feet, and you’ll come to our letterbox that is hidden underneath of the tree.

Crazy Challenge #1: Start at the top of the lane and skip to the end of the guardrail.

Just for fun: Look out at the water, this river is called Dry River .If you see any ducks, count them!

Fast Fact: The tannery on Dry River was unsuccessful due to the lack of waterpower; it was then relocated to McGaheysville

Crazy Challenge #3: Go back to the beginning of the lane and hop to the first tree on the
left side of the lane.

Crazy Challenge #4: Next, jog to the second tree that looks like a hand with three fingers.

Crazy Challenge #5: Now snap your fingers until you reach the start of the trail.

Just for fun: Listen and you’ll hear the sound of the water.

Crazy Challenge #6: Take giant steps until you reach the first pile of rocks.

Crazy Challenge #11: Walk up the little bank until you reach the log.

Fast Fact: Rushville used to have a school name Rushville School that was built in the late 1800’s.

Crazy Challenge #12: With you parent’s permission, balance and walk on the log until you reach a break in the log.

Crazy Challenge #13: Now multiply the number of paths (2) by the number of trees at the beginning of your adventure (3) and take that many steps until you reach an opening under the log where you will find our Letterbox!
