These boxes have been taken - we are working on replacing them....4/11

The terrible creatures that dwell in this area have stolen two of the three letterboxes and emptied the remaining one. I am working on trying to replace the stolen artifacts and will remove this warning when that has been done, please check back for this to be done!

There are three letterboxes in this series – you have to follow the story to find all three. The area where these are hidden is a well trafficked area, so please be cautious and unsuspicious when doing this and make sure to hide the boxes well! We hope you guys have fun finding these, we sure had fun creating them! This story was created for and with the help of our three kids. This is our first attempt at creating our own boxes, so please be sure to let us know what you think of them.

There are first finders prizes for the first three finders. We have put one in each box. To the first three people to find these boxes we ask that you would please take only one and leave the others for the next letterboxers to come. And again, please make sure the boxes are well hidden, dry and safe when you put them back. Enjoy!

You will start in the parking lot of the Paul Ream’s Wilderness Park in Provo. It is located at about 500 North and Independence Avenue. (from Provo you take 500 West to 500 North and head west. Take that road almost until it ends - only a mile or so - and the park is on the right)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Your journey begins at a bridge. This may look like an ordinary bridge, but this one spans a gap that connects the real world to a world called Kriscoteagarow. This is no ordinary journey to a new land, as if any journey to a new land could be ordinary. On this specific journey, you have a mission to help save the magical land of Kriscoteagarow. This land is riddled with many fierce creatures that threaten to steal the three energy sources that keep the land alive. Your mission is to find those three energy boxes and add your stamp to their hearts, which will regenerate the energy force for the land restore it to the way it should be.
To begin this journey you must first cross the Bridge to Kriscoteagarow. Standing on the end of the bridge you will see two paths in front of you. The one slightly to the right looks lonely and desolate and leads to a forboding forest, so you decide to take the path to the left and you start along that path along with the flow of the river Gotsk. To your left you hear the peaceful sounds of the river pulling you along, almost begging you to follow the path and restore the energy to the land it belongs to. As you continue walking you will pass by 2 towering light keepers. The first light keeper you will pass after about 70 steps. After the first light keeper, you find yourself surrounded by the waters of Kriscoteagarow - with the river Gotsk on you left and the terrible Lake of Tantn to your right. The Lake of Tantn is guarded by the honking, squawking, floating, finger-biters of Tantn! These fierce creatures are relentless in their pursuit to rid you of every morsel of food you have brought on your journey. Feeling the need to keep your food safe, you go about another 50 steps to get to the second light keeper and get farther away from these creatures. From the second light keeper you quickly take another 90 steps, around the southern tip of Lake of Tantn, to a third light keeper. At this point you get scared by the aggressive finger-biters and want to high tail it out of there and you take 58 rabbit hops (past another 2 light keepers) until you reach a small strip of sidewalk to the right that you think is a safe distance from the Lake of Tantn and its ferocious finger-biters. You realize that you have come completely around the Lake of Tantn safely, with all your fingers and food intact, and you decide to rest from all the hopping and stepping it took you to get to where you are.
As you stand resting on this spot, you glance a little further up the path and see that you will soon be faced with another decision. To your right lies a paved path with a fork in it. You head there and weigh your options – in the end you realize that both paths lead you to the same road, so you make your choice (either right or left is fine) and take it the 5 steps up to the road it dead ends on.
Once on that road, choices are once again your companion. If you take the right, you will be led back to the bridge that would take you to safety of the real world – away from the finger-biting Tantns and the other foul, oops, I mean foul creatures of Kriscoteagarow. And to the left lies an uncharted forest – the Forest Sogre. The adventurer in you decides to go to the left and bravely complete the mission you started! You turn to the left and walk to the end of the pavement. Standing at the end of the paved walk, you hesitate only a moment, take a deep breath, muster all your courage and venture into the forboding forest. You slowly walk along the remnant of a forest path for about 30 steps, passing what seems to be two dining areas for whatever dreaded forest creatures lurk in this Sogre Forest. Feeling a little apprehensive, you quickly turn a little to the west and continue in that direction another few steps until you come to a babbling brook trickling near a light keeper. The brook pleads with you to continue on your quest and refill the land’s energy.
You assure the brook that you will and you follow the wood chip path north to a small metal, yellow bridge spanning the tiny brook. Fearing the ferocious brook troll that lurks under these types of bridges, you quickly cross the bridge and take an immediate left. You find yourself being attacked by creatures who resemble bushes, who scratch and claw at your clothes, forbidding you to continue on your quest. But this reassures you that you are on the right path and that are coming close to the first energy box, so you continue to follow the path. The path leads you to a small clearing in the forest and you follow the brook 17 steps to a place that looks like a small log dam. The path splits here, one going close to the brook on the left, and the other winds to the right. You follow the path on the right 11 giant steps to a rock in the path next to a tall tree on the left. The rock seems to urge you on further and bids you travel quietly through the next stretch to avoid waking the Sogre ogres. You take 65 quiet steps on tip toe past the sleeping place of the ogres and you stop between two trees – the one the left being wide and having an empty nest in it, and another stately tree on your right. You have now completely passed the brook and you continue up the hill to another clearing. Standing in this clearing and looking to the south east, you see a tree that is bent over and bowing to a cluster of three trees. This amazes you and seems to draw you near it.
The tight cluster of three trees are the keepers of the first energy box and are the spirits of the land Kriscoteagarow. They are Newo, Terrag, and Nagaet and it is at their base that the first box is safely hidden. You carefully remove the box, making sure none of the forest creatures are near or watching and you add your stamp of energy to the heart of the box. Immediately as you do so, you can hear sounds of pleasant birds singing above you as life is partially rejuvenated in the land. You can also hear the sounds of the real world enticing you from the south. After replacing the box into the safety of the three trees, you start walking towards the sounds until you reach a wider cluster of three trees. These trees remind you of the three energy boxes you promised to refill and knowing that you are only a third of the way finished you renew your determination to fulfill your task.
You see the path to your right that leads up a hill and back to the real world, and a forked path to the left that leads deeper into Kriscoteagarow; you bravely go to the left and again cross the brook which sings magical music that thanks you for coming back and encourages you to continue. On the other side of the brook, dividing the path, stands a single tree that splits into three trunks. Looking at the main trunk on the left, you notice that it splits into a “V”, as though it were an arrow pointing down to where the second energy box lay hidden. You must be careful here because you are in open view of a highly favored area of the tiny shin-kickers. They gather here and frolic wildly while their full-grown, order-giving commanders look on. After you reenergize this box also, and secure it back to its safe holding, you look up at the other two trunks. The third portion of the trunk points to the right, telling you to continue in that direction. You follow the wood chip path to the right as is pointed out to you by the tree, away from the shin-kickers play area and you are heading back to the safety of the paved path which waits for you a little ways away. All the while you recognize that the air in Kriscoteagarow has seemed to have cleared and smells sweeter than before and you recognize that your task is almost complete.
At the end of the wood chip path, you find yourself standing a little ways in front of a main dining hall – beware here for commanders and shin-kickers often gather here and feast on the most unhealthy of items and you fear you could be next on their menu!
You look at a grove of trees standing straight ahead of you. One tree in particular stands out to you – it is in the shape of a lower case “t”, with its arms out stretched, seemingly calling you towards it. You walk towards it, entranced in the love for Kriscoteagarow that emanates from it, and upon nearing its trunk you notice that the base of the tree sticks out and seems to have grown over something. As if it were surrounding and protecting something very valuable. You take a closer look and on the backside of it you find a small cavern where the last energy box lies. You triumphantly put your stamp of energy in this last box and fulfill the mission you set out to accomplish.
Your mission is completed! You have rejuvenated the world of Kriscoteagarow and have brought life and balance back to all the creatures who live here. Upon leaving you notice the sky has lightened and the colors have brightened within the land. It is your stamps that have made this possible. Life here has been restored; the once fierce creatures have magically transformed into peaceful creatures who no longer seek to harm you. It is now that you can go to the Lake of Tantn and feed the once angry finger-biters. You can easily go to the play area of the shin-kickers and appreciate them for the happy sprites they now are. Or you can return to the bridge in the north and cross it back to the real world, knowing that you have accomplished a great feat and have brought life back to a dying land.
