This box needs a new log.
Boyd Woods is located on Route 254 which runs from Route 118 in Litchfield to route 6 in Thomaston. The sanctuary is on the right side 1.5 miles from route 118.
Park in the parking lot adjacent to the hayfield. NO DOGS PLEASE. Check out the kiosk for information about Boyd Woods and a trail map.
To find this boid, start at the kiosk. Head roughly westerly down the hill parallel to the stone wall. When you leave the hayfield and enter the forest look to your right and you will see a small body of water. Continue for a short distance and you will note a break in the stone wall. This is the beginning of the Windy Woods or yellow blazed trail. Follow this trail along and in times of high water you might notice a small stream to the left. When the trail takes a sharp right turn, this stream joins a larger brook which will follow you along the left side of the trail. Watch for a tree that's been sawed through to make room to walk on the trail. After that when you see a second ((a recent finder told me that these trees are no longer there but there is a bench) smaller cut tree look to the right end for a three foot stump. Great place for a box but much too deep so look in the stump end of the log for what you've been seeking.
(200 steps more along the trail will bring you to a bridge).
Cover with bark. No ink in box.
