Discovery Animals Series
Discovery Park is where the Sacramento and American Rivers meet. It is a 302 acre park located near I-5. There is a $5.00 day use fee to enter. For more information see:

There are 3 boxes in the series and they can be found in any order.
Humphrey The Humpback - MISSING AS OF 8/16/2008
In 1985, there was a humpback whale (given the name Humphrey) that swam up the Sacramento River and ended up near the delta town of Rio Vista before turning around and heading back to the ocean. In 2007, there was a mother whale and her calf (given the names Delta and Dawn) that also came up the Sacramento River before heading back to the ocean.
Start at Discovery Park in Sacramento.
At the boat ramp, find the 5 yellow tubes.
Walk at 250 but don't fall in the river.
Stand behind the memorial rock, facing away from it.
Take 10 steps at 300.
Humphrey is under a big rock below ground level, right at the edge of the lawn.
Nuts the Squirrel
Start at Discovery Park in Sacramento.
Park where an archer would.
Walk along the paved trail away from the park till you come to a tree sign.
How high are those trees? How long is that trail? Add these 2 numbers together and take that many steps back the way you came (give or take a dozen).
Take the trail on your left.
When you come to a 4 trunk tree, stop
Nuts is in the right most trunk, between two branches.
They call me Al
Start at Discovery Park in Sacramento.
Go to Tiscornia.
Park under the concrete shade.
Go to the silver gate and take the footpath straight ahead.
When you come to a huge duck on the right (but not the kind Al would like to eat), take the trail to the left.
Go to the large cottonwood tree with exposed roots.
Walk directly away from the tree towards the river (unless the river is high!!!)
Turn around and face the tree.
You will see some bushes to the right of the tree, but further up the bank. Look for a downed branch to the right of the bushes and uphill. Al is hiding on the uphill side of the branch, on the ground (Al is kinda big).
