The “Transforming Six Year Old” letterbox can be found at the Middlesex Land Trust property on Middle Haddam Road in Portland Connecticut. Take Rte. 66 to the intersection of Rte. 66 and Rte. 151 in Cobalt Center. Turn on Depot Hill Rd. and bear left on Middle Haddam Rd.

At approximately three-tenths of a mile you will come to a pull off along wooden guard rails on the left. Park there and walk up the road looking for a large maple tree with a Middlesex Land Trust sign. Just past the tree is a small dirt hill that leads to a fence made of utility poles. This will take you to a portion of the old Airline Railroad bed.

Continue along the railway (you will be heading south) looking for CL&P pole #2550. This pole has an orange trail blaze on the back side. Approximately 27 paces from this pole, on your right, is the opening to the trail. Look carefully... it's not used enough to be clear. Look for the orange blazes in the woods just past a small ledge. Continue uphill on the orange trail until you come to a set of beautiful stone steps, yes, steps, on your right. They apparently belonged to one of the old factories or mills located in the area.

With the steps to your right, take a sharp left, go over the stone “bridge” (my guess is it's there to help your footing in wet times) and continue on the trail. You will come to what looks like an old road, cross over and continue until you come to a HUGE boulder on your left. Stand with the boulder nearly touching your left shoulder, take a reading of 270 degrees. At that reading, in the stone wall, between two trees, is your treasure!

You can continue on the trail or go back the way you came. It will eventually lead you back to Middle Haddam Road and you can walk east back to your car.

"The Transformers" was a 2007 action film adaption of the Transformers Franchise. It also happens to be my Grandsons favorite movie!

Sam Witwicky is a teenager involved in a war between the heroic Autobots

and the evil Decepticons: two races of alien robots who can disguise themselves by transforming into everyday machinery. The Decepticons desire control of the Allspark, the object that created their robotic race, with the intention of using it to build an army by giving life to the machines of Earth.

Optimus Prime is a character in the Transformers universe. He is the commander of the Autobots from the planet Cybertron who wage their battles against the evil forces of the Decepticons. Optimus Prime is heroic, brave and compassionate. He has a strong sense of justice and righteousness. He has dedicated himself to the protection of all life. He will continue to battle his foes with unyielding resolve to uphold this belief!
