That our daughters may be as cornerstones, polished after the similitude of a palace.
Ps. 144:12

“I need some help with my homework.”
“Okay, what are you working on?”
“World geography. I need three things from my country to bring in to school tomorrow for extra credit.”
“Really? Good thing you didn’t wait until the last minute! Well, I think there’s something in the coin collection. What else did you have in mind?”
“I wanted to cook something. I was looking for recipes on the internet.”
“We can go over to the market and see what they have. That’s two….”
“And I found this picture. I thought maybe you could make a stamp from it.”
“TONIGHT?! Oh, sweetie bug, I don’t know… well, maybe if I get a good transfer….”

“I don’t want to do any more hiking. I’m gonna stay here at the overlook for a while and then go back to the car and read.”
“Well…all right. Are you sure you know how to get back to the car?”
“Of course! It’s a straight trail! And I have awesome orienteering skills!”
“Okay, I’m just going a little ways on that trail where we found the rabbit. Half an hour out, half an hour back, and we’ll head for home.”
* * * * *
“You told me you were going back to the car! How did you get all the way out HERE?!”
“I was going back, but then I decided to go down the bank to the river.”
“But there’s no trail there!”
“I know, and it’s really steep. I sat down and slid most of the way so I wouldn’t fall onto the train tracks. And then I walked along the tracks until I found this trail, and I came up it. And it’s a horrible trail—it’s even worse than the one you’re on.”
“I cannot believe that you just pulled a stunt like that.”
“Sure! I told you, I’m a great orienteer.”
“Terrific. Then you can just orienteer us right back to the car, because I need to go home now and lie down until I recover.”

I still don’t know what possessed her to go down that bank! It’s rough enough this way—okay, I don’t think that’s actually a trail…no, the signpost is further up ahead. Fire, and then down left to the rhodies. Maybe I’ll come back sometime when they’re in bloom.

There’s the signpost on the left. Let’s see what this “horrible trail” looks like. Well, a little steep, but not too bad. Probably won’t be too much fun coming back up, though. At least it’s pretty. Okay, big log…hm, that looks like a wall, but it might be natural…jog to the right, and a T at the creek. She would have come from the left—looks like they’re doing construction down there, though. Let’s turn right & head upstream.

That’s interesting. Wonder how often somebody comes out here to check those pipes, if they ever do? Ah, a little stream crossing’s always nice…ok, now where do we go from here? Up that hill to the right? Over the log…wow, that’s steep. That’s not a trail, it looks more like a gully. Gee, wonder if she actually came up THIS way instead of the way I came down? She might have done—I wouldn’t put it past her. That would make a horrible trail, all right. Well, I’m not sending anybody up there. This tree on the left with the double trunk will do fine. Nice rock stuck in the ground behind it, with plenty of room underneath, find another one to cover it….
