You never know what you’ll find in the woods. Follow the clues and find our funky little woodland flower. To begin, you need to go to the Eastfork State Park by the Wm. H. Harsha Dam and Lake. To get there:

From I-275, exit 125 east for 10 miles until you come to State Route #222. Turn left. Continue on S.R. #222 for a short distance (about a mile). The entrance to the Wm. H. Harsha Dam and Lake will be on your right (Slade Road). Take that road until you come upon a sign for the Tailwater Picnic Shelter. Turn left. Continue to the shelter parking area. From the parking lot, you will have the shelter on your left and, further toward the dam levy, rest rooms to your right. The trail you want is just past the rest rooms to your right and begins quite steeply. After the initial climb and 50 yards or so of a very narrow track, the trail makes a switchback to the right onto an old abandoned road through the woods. A little ways after the switchback you will reach a water bar across the trail (a piece of 4x4 treated lumber). Continue past this water bar about 10 paces to a second water bar. Take a bearing of 240° and go about 6 paces to a hollow dead snag standing about 3 or 4 feet tall. Look in the bottom of this snag and see if there isn’t a Woodland Flower hiding there.
