Get oriented at the signpost at University and Ninth Avenue. This signpost points out the various neighborhoods of Downtown, and the mountain ranges surrounding the Tucson Basin. Each sign was made by a different artist living in the Dunbar Spring neighborhood.
It's time for a short walk. Follow the sign to the Community Garden.
Welcome! Bienvenidos! Wander around and explore. There are lots of things to discover here. Neighbors gather here to picnic, and garden, and enjoy the cool microclimate the plants create. There is a playground adjacent to the north. There is a botanical garden on the west side with lots of native desert plants. Neighbors can rent a plot; each plot is named for a desert bird.
Back in one corner there are two citrus trees. There are two little stone seats in front of them. Sit down on the east one.
Did you know that citrus leaves are fragrant? Pick some and have a sniff! Citrus leaves are distilled, and the extract, called petitgrain, is used in perfumery and aromatherapy to calm the mind, soothe the nerves, and promote restful sleep. Have another sniff and enjoy this lovely place.
Look under your seat. Best to approach the hiding place from the back. You can do your stamping at the picnic table under the ramada by the tool shed.
Please rehide this box securely, and make sure it's invisible from all angles. Drop me a line and tell me how you liked the Garden. Take some citrus leaves with you to put in your pillowcase. Sweet dreams!
Please let me know if this box needs attention, and be so kind as to record your find at www.letterboxing.org/ or at www.atlasquest.com/
Have fun out there!
