XMP BIRTHDAY BOX AND AGE IS JUST A NUMBER
DIFFICULTY-easy
LENGTH- a little more than a mile total
Take CT 17 to Stage Coach Road. It is 4.6 miles north of Rt 17/Rt 22 intersection in Northford, on right hand side. Coming south from the Rt17/ Rt 77 intersection in Durham it is about 3.9 miles on your left. 0.2 miles up Stage Coach road on the right is a small parking area. The blue Mattabesett trail is here.
*watch out for 4-wheelers and the muddy ruts they make.
Follow the blue blazed trail. Go past a bent tree and keep a lookout for vines falling in the trail. When you come to the vines, take about 20 paces from the next blue blaze. Look to the right for a big tree shaped like the number 4. In the corner of the four, pull out the rock to find the first letterbox. This is the first birthday box.
Continue on the blue trail until you reach a 4-way intersection at a stream. Go right and cross the stream. Look to the left of the trail, past the roots and behind the big tree to find the second birthday box revealing XMPs age! Follow blue trail back to car.
