!Princess Mandea was naturally curious, but little did she know what awaited her in the woods beyond her father’s kingdom…

This box was placed as a gift for my one true love on our one year anniversary : )

From the Berlin Turnpike in Newington.

On the back roads behind Wal-mart Plaza.

Take Griswold Ave. left on to Deming St. past Barn Hill. At the three way stop, take a left onto Candlewyc Dr.
Your first left off Candlewyc will be Lamplighter Ln. Just before going up the hill you should notice a gap on the left that is fenced off (between houses #78 and #88). This is a “hidden” public park (also accessible from the top of Barn Hill Ln. via a long white fence).

Play on the swings if you so choose, then follow the gravel path to the top of the slight incline (the basketball court and play ground will be on your left). From here turn putting the basketball court at your back. Walk obliquely to the left corner of the tree line (about 100 steps).

You should now see an indentation and an indication of a path through the woods. (When I set this in early May it was pretty clear but since then it’s become pretty overgrown with brambles. It’s still doable but be careful.)

Follow the path to a rough clearing and look for a smaller path to your right. This takes you to another clearing (if you check the roots of a fallen tree in this area you might find something interesting ; ) but not the letterbox you are seeking).

In this clearing on your right you should see a raised mound of earth. There is evidence of old fence posts and barbed wire here. Follow the mound deeper into the woods looking for a tree that has horns like a ram. Near the base of this tree is a cluster of three large rocks. (Again be careful of barbed wire, I tried to remove as much as possible. Also there are a few animal holes here, don't turn your ankle in one of them!) You should find your treasure here!
