Description: This letterbox is placed in the National Historic Landmark District of Ybor City (Pronounced EE-bor). Ybor was founded over a century ago by Vincente Martinez Ybor who moved his cigar factory from Key West due to labor issues. Ybor built small homes and sold them to his employees, at cost. This created an influx of immigrants; Cuban, Spanish & Italian. The effects of such rich culture can still be felt today. For more than a half century Ybor City was the "Cigar Capital of the World." Many cigar facories are still standing today along with many other historic buildings. Be sure to visit the many shopping and dining places in Ybor. At night Ybor takes on an entirely different feel as the nightlife capital of Tampa. It is best to visit Ybor during the day or early evening to find this letterbox. Do not hunt during business hours. Be very discreet as this is a high traffic area.

Directions: Ybor is located just Northeast of downtown Tampa. Take I-4 to the 21st/22nd street exit. Park near Centennial Park which is between 9th Ave on the North, 8th Ave on the South, 18th Street to the West, & 19th street to the East.

Clue: First you will need to visit the Ybor City Museum State Park, at the corner of 9th Ave & 19th Street. The cost of the Museum is $2.00. Your mission is to find out what "casitas" are, and the year Vincente Martinez Ybor came to Tampa. Second, you will need to head to Centennial Park across the street. You are looking for a beautiful statue Honoring Ybor's Immigrant Population. From this point site 295 degrees and follow to be "Taken back in Time." Take 1852 away from the year Ybor came to Tampa to give you your next heading. Follow that heading to the Casita. The letterbox is located under the right side of the first step. Again, be very discreet as this is a high traffic area.

Happy Hunting!
