Location: Racebrook Tract, Orange CT
Parking: plenty available
Difficulty: Easy
Time: 40 minutes
Clues:
Park and then cross over the bridge.
At the first fork, take either path; they will join back together after a very short distance.
At the second fork, take the trail that heads to the north, the red trail (trail marker-red triangles).
Cross over the brook (Colburn Brook) for the first time. At the next fork, take the trail that heads slightly NE, the green trail, the Colburn Brook Trail.
When you reach the access road, bear right (staying on the green trail) and travel slightly downhill to cross Colburn Brook for the second time.
Immediately after you cross over the brook, notice the trees with the green trail markers on both sides of the path. The marked tree on the western side of the path sits next to a forked tree. At the base, you will find what you seek.
You can return the way you came, or you can continue on - the trail circles around. When you get to the next fork, bear south on the purple trail until it joins with the white trail. Bear west on the white trail - it will lead you to the parking lot.
