There is a building bearing the town's name with Hall but it is not the Town Hall.
It served as an elementary school many years ago and has hosted many festive community events and dances throughout the years. Presently it houses the North Branford Senior Center and hosts many community functions as well. Totoket Grange #83 calls it home.

When you find this building you may discover the small parking lot is full, especially if it is “Bingo Day” : )

The dentist next door is not amicable to sharing his parking spaces, so it is best to find parking across the street if necessary. The Congregational Church and Senior Center cooperate with parking arrangements.

If you do park at the Church parking lot and walk across the small town green you will have a chance to contemplate some history. Several monuments are placed to honor citizens who served our country in the military. The church building sits on the site where the original meeting house was located. During the Revolutionary War, when the call came from General Washington for men, the Rev. Samuel Eells was in the middle of a sermon. He stopped, gave the announcement and asked for volunteers. After the sermon he met the volunteers in the field by the church and formed a company which he led during the war.

The Rev. Samuel Eells was an abolitionist, deploring the practice of slavery. He preached sermons against the custom and as a result most of the slaves in town were given their freedom. This was before slavery was abolished in Connecticut. His final resting place is in the old cemetery across the street from the church.

When you reach North Branford Hall, pass along the side of the building next to that cemetery. When you arrive at the back corner you will discover a passage between the building and some bushes. Go there. At the base of a magnificent maple tree you will find what you seek hiding under a trap door. This spot is well sheltered from prying eyes except for Kathy who just might be watching you from her kitchen window. Don't worry! She knows and approves of your 'boxing!
