This letterbox is located in Chimney Rock Park. There is a $12 admissione per adult. The park is great, with some spectacular scenery. It is most recently famous for being the filming location for "Last of the Mohicans." Great hike with LOTS of steps. The pamphlet they give you with a trail map lists it as "moderate." After you get up to the chimney (by stairs or elevator), enjoy the view and then head back to the trailhead for the SKYLINE trail. You are heading toward Hickory Nut Falls, a 2 mile roundtrip. After all the steps (or at least a goodly amount of them), you will find one of several small shed-like structures. Just beyond that, the trail skirts a granite face (you also have the option of climbing the face). Stay on the trail. You will cross 3 small bridges. Between bridge 2 and three, look to your left. There is a flat rock with space underneath for the treasure you seek. If you cross the 3rd bridge and read about "witch hazel" you have gone too far. After stamping in, follow the rest of the trail (the hard part is over)and see the falls. The Cliff Trail (on the return loop) is spectacular with its views and soaring granite cliffs. Lunch at the Big Rock Cafe completes the day.
