There is nothing finer than a summer day at Pinecrest Lake. This box will be here until Oct. 1, 2008. Enjoy!
Take the trail around Pincrest Lake, heading from the boat ramp to the dam. You will walk approx. 1/2 mile on a rough, rocky trail, which is in hot sun in the afternoon. The path parallels the lake. When it makes a left turn, heading toward the dam, you will be climbing up a granite hill. At the top of the granite hill you will see a tall dead tree AND a sign saying 'Pinecrest National Recreation Trail'. On the trail, walk 10-12 steps back towards the dead tree. Turn and take 2 steps towards the tree. Look for a small shrub and a crack in a granite rock. Peek under the bark!
Careful-lots of traffic on this trail.
Tip: great swimming cove just over the edge here, and a high jumping rock further down the trail.
This was placed in June. Sorry for any confusion.
