Palisades Parkway, Exit 2 towards Alpine and Closter, follow road 502 through Closter. Turn right onto Schraalenburgh. Stay on Schraalenburgh as it becomes Lafayette. Left at T onto Blanche then next right into Pondside Park.
#1 Frolicking Fish
Park on right after entering gate. Additional parking is available down the road past the right side of the pond.
Begin your walk at the entrance near the gate. Go clockwise past benches and exercise stations until you reach the small stand of trees on your right. Walk on the right side of the trees towards the bench along the water. Stop when you can stand between a single and a double-trunk tree facing the woods. Take 15 steps straight into the woods. You should be next to a good sized tree whose bark is slightly darker than the younger ones around it. Look behind it at its feet, under bark and twigs.
#2 Nectar Nibbler
Return to the path and continue circling the pond. Cross the bridge. Stop when you reach the first green bench on the left. Take about 20 steps further to a large tree just off the trail on the left. Backtrack 3 steps then step down into the woods. Make your way 15 steps towards the right, parallel to the upper trail you just left. You should be at a double trunked tree with a third smaller branch reaching skyward. Look among the roots between the two trunks to find the Nectar Nibbler.
Return the way you came or continue along the path to the parking areas.
