Dec '10 - finally got over to check this one out after a couple of messages saying there was no iron gate. Seems the whole area has been relandscaped and the fence and gate, along with the box, are gone.

The Beardsley and Memorial Library is on Main St. in Winsted on the corner of Munro Place. Go to the NE corner of the parking lot and look for the iron gate. Go left and look between the big rectangle and the big square. Cover well when you’re done by carefully balancing the stones in the opening.
