Placed May 31, 2003 - Rachel Carson Day
(reported missing 04-Jul-2003)
(replaced and updated 27-Jul-2003)
Fall Run Park
Directions:
North on Route 8 from Route 28 - Pittsburgh or
South on Route 8 from Pennsylvania Turnpike.
South of Wildwood Road or 3 miles North of Route 28.
Turn East onto Fall Run Road (across from Spirit Harley
Davidson). Enter the park, drive a short distance straight
back. Park where you can. The nature trail is at least 1
mile. It is a well-maintained trail featuring 7 wooden
bridges which allow a visitor to zigzag over the babbling
stream without getting wet unless you really want to. The
path and bridges eventually lead you to the highlight of the
trail, a waterfall. You can view the falls from below, or
on a recently built staircase. Total of 34 steps takes you
atop the falls. This is definitely one area not to miss in
the Pine Creek Watershed!!!
If you want to find the Letterbox - climb the stairs.
Continue for 40 paces. Look left (the same distance
you just walked) into the woods. Nestled between 3
trees is what you seek. Careful climbing.
Good hunting. Please E-mail me with your results.
