Last checked/found: Only the cover of the box was found on 27-AUG-14, so I assume the stamp is missing.

Location: neeuQcaM FP

Distance/Time: 15-20 minutes

Terrain: Wide grassy trail & deer path

I was standing at the parking lot at the MacQ FP when I heard from a bird. Its cheerful sound made me curious to catch a glimpse of it, so I headed through a fence opening on the east side of the lot, near the pump. What were its trills and twitters trying to tell me? I continued on past the picnic tables toward the outhouse. The lively melody led me to the trail on the left, heading to the “P. Woods F.P.” At the first “Y”, the song seemed to come from the left, and then I heard another sweet cheep to the left at the next “Y”. From this split I took 30 steps along the trail and then saw a faint path on the left that I thought might lead me to a glimpse of the feathered songster. I followed the path in to a fallen giant resting on a friend, and found that little bird nesting on the backside, where the friends met.

Status reports about how the bird is doing would be greatly appreciated, since we don’t live nearby and won’t be able to check on her ourselves. Thanks!
