Van Horn Woods East is part of the Plainfield Park District. This location has a one acre dog park, a large fishing pond, a play ground, a baseball diamond, and soon to be installed a BMX bike park.

The entrance to Van Horn East is off of the I55 frontage road, between US Rte 30 and Caton Farm Road.

From the parking lot take the path past the playground and behind the baseball backstop traveling toward the tree line. The path will curve to the right and follow along side the tree line. Take the second path on your left. This path will be paved. You will have Lily Cache creek on your left.

You will come to a fork in the road. Stay on the left along the creek. Soon there will be a large tree on your left that was hit by lighting. Look to the right. Just off the trail is a pile of fallen logs/branches. Look straight back from this pile about 30 feet and you should see a tree stump that is approx. 4 ft. tall and orange in color. The tree that this stump belongs to is laying between you and the stump. Look in the fork of the tree.

Please be carefull, this area is behind a row of houses. There are many small people who play, and ride bikes on this path. When returning the box, please recover carefully with fallen leaves/vegetation.

I am the leader to a scout group. Who we are is part of the stamp. This is our first box planted. We as a troop have come to love letterboxing. We have worked on this box and stamp as part of High Tech Hide and Seek.
Please remember to keep a smile on your face, and your sunny side up.
