This box was placed in memory of cousin Joe who we miss deeply.
One of our favorite things to do with Joe was play games. Board games, card games, video games or computer games-he would play them all. This box has a special two sided stamp that represents one of our favorite games to play with Joe. (If you take red, green and black pens you will end up with a great stamp for your book!!)
This property is privately owned but open to the public at no charge. No pets, food or drink are allowed. The preserve is open April 15-Nov 1 from 8 am to Sunset.
Find Highway 33 in La Crosse and travel East. You will pass Schmidty's Bar & Restaurant on the left side and Kwik Trip on the right. After you pass Kwik Trip keep your eyes pealed for "Hugelheim, The Paul E. Stry Preserve" on the right side. It can be easy to miss. Park in the parking lot and take the trail that leads to the right. When you get to the map sign take the right path. Stop walking when you reach the crack in the sidewalk between the 21st and 22nd blocks. Look right and you will see a funny little stump 3 steps off the path. Find your prize here. If you continue on this path or back track there are many benches and resting areas to do your stamping.
