This is located at Great Brook Farm in Carlisle.
Park in the main parking area of Great Brook Farm off of North Road. There is a $2.00 parking fee.
In the parking area there will be signs for the ice cream stand. These signs are a finger pointing in a direction with an ice cream cone on it. Follow these signs onto a dirt trail. Follow this trail with the pond on your RIGHT. You will come to a 4-WAY intersection. Take a LEFT onto the dirt path. This is LANTERN LOOP.
Stay on this dirt path for a short distance and then look for a post with a #4 on it. You will take a RIGHT onto LITCHFIELD LOOP.
Follow this trail for a short distance to a "Y" intersection
(approx 100 steps)and go RIGHT onto a gravel trail. You have gone too far if you come to a solid wooden fence.
You will stay on this trail for a while going over several hills. Eventually you will come out to a large clearing/field. STAY RIGHT and follow the trail. Pass a murky swamp on your RIGHT. A short distance aheah look LEFT after passing the swamp and you will see a sign for TRAIL #6.
Go LEFT into the woods. If you see a rock wall you are close to the "STACK ATTACK" letterbox.
You will now take the STONE ROW trail.
This trail has numerous out croppings of rocks. You will walk along this trail as it winds through a small valley. Check out the huge rocks that look like they are going to fall and continue up the trail. You will begin a slow SHARP RIGHT turn up the hill and climb out of the "valley". As you begin to get to the crest of the hill you are climbing, look to the LEFT. On a rock formation you will see a fairly large shelter built of rock and fallen trees. This is approx 10 YARDS off the LEFT side of the trail.
Go look and see if Carleen and her friends are inside celebrating her birthday? If not, continue on the trail you were on keeping the "cottage" (as Carleen calls it)on your LEFT.
Approx 30 to 40 steps from the cottage begin to look LEFT. About 5 to 10 yards off the trail you will see large stacks of rocks. There should be a log sticking out from the center of stones. Hopefully the log is still there. If not the pile of rocks/stones should get your attention. At this point look at the hill behind these stones and look for a BOULDER THAT LOOKS LIKE THE SHAPE OF A TRIANGLE.
The letterbox is beneath the boulder.
