Goldbeard heard that his old pirate buddy was finding great treasures in Colorado. In fact, he heard that Silverbeard was just swishing a pan in the stream and finding large chunks of gold in the pan’s bottom. That sounded much easier than the plundering and pillaging Goldbeard was doing to make a living.
He traveled to Denver, bought supplies and a mule, and decided to follow Clear Creek to Blackhawk where the new fangled placer mining was making millionaires. If he found a gold deposit in the rocks, he’d never have to work again! Along the way, he spied the perfect place to stake his claim. If you’d like to find Goldbeard, you’ll have to decipher his scribbling and plan in advance for your visit.
I found directions to his claim, but it looks shifty to me.
