This park was a fun find and a great trail/nature walk. If your visiting chincoteague, head off the island Via rt 175 and look for Atlantic road , take a right and head to the end to a left on Mill Dam road. follow to wallops park.. It looks deserted but drive on in. follow drive way past the playground and park. head for the nature trail. At the trail head turn to the right for a reverse alphabet hike. Look for the letter markers on the trees or take 83 paces(single step) to the X marker high up on the tree. follow the path for another 35 paces from the X marker. to the large Y shaped tree on the right, in the bottom of the tree is a huge crevice. the Treasure Ray awaits you there. please cover when done. This is our first carve and placment. This is a great nature hike. and we happend by on the first week in July and there were tons of red rasberry bushes ripe with fruit. Enjoy!!
