Patterson Park Pagoda - created by the mobots, placed by the charm city box company
Patterson park is one of the oldest parks in the city, and the pagoda is its icon. Built in 1890 on hampstead hill, it was originally called the observation tower. At the ridge where the Pagoda now stands, Baltimoreans rallied on September 12, 1814 to protect the city from the threat of a British invasion. Urban myth suggests that from this vantage point the glow from the fire at the Capitol and the White House could be seen as the opposition marched through the nation's capital.
The pagoda has recently been renovated, and lovingly cared for by the friends of patterson park. If you come on sundays 12-6 from may to October, you can climb up and see one of the best views in the entire city. Otherwise the hill its on still gives a great view of the city (downtown, the port, key bridge)
directions:
Find the pagoda at patterson park, if your there on open hours go up stairs, its worth the hike. Walk outside of the pagoda and notice a row of civil war cannons dated 1814. Stand behind the middle canon and point yourself at the tower which reads "canton" in the skyline (as of writting a letter fell and i think it now says "caton") take a compas reading of 75 deg. east. Walk this direction and pass the stone bull. Continue past the bull folowing a trail of stones until you find money and a fire hydrant. Behind the hydrant and by a small tree you will find your prize.
Be stealthy this is a urban public park.... Make sure to check out the boat lake box while your there.
enjoy the park, any problems w/ this letterbox contact us at
