This letterbox is located in Natural Bridge State Park.
To get there from Lexington, KY, take I-64 East to the Mountain Parkway which will then take you to Slade, KY. Exit at Slade and take Rt 11 up the hill toward the park. Ignore the turnoff to the lodge which you will see on the right. Keep going. On the left you will see your turn into Whittleton Campground. Stop at the check-in station and tell them you want to hike Whittleton Arch Trail. You will park and walk to the end of the park road where you will gain access to the trail which is also part of the Sheltowee Trace. The trail is pretty muddy
as we plant this letterbox. Normally this trail is rather idyllic. There are small bridges crossing the stream here and there. After you cross the second bridge, count off about 40 paces and look to your left. You are looking for an old stump with witchy-fingerlike projections. Face the stump. There is a large rock to the right of the stump. On the side closest to the stump, look for the box which is covered by leaves, a stick and a couple of pieces of old brick.
