Driving westward on I-80 in Utah, stop at the rest area near milemarker 170, shortly before the Coalville exit. Here you will find one of the items we think is essential in any hiker's pack.
After parking, walk across the car path and past the picnic area sign. There is a walkway that curves around past a large triangular planting area full of juniper bushes, then continues up to the hilltop. Stand on the uphill corner of the planting area, facing the juniper. Take 2 steps down to your right then stoop down to tie your shoelace. Your hiker's helper will be under the juniper to your left.
