No RV parking
No Porta Potties
No Water
There is a very nice trail between Lake of the Woods and Fish Lake. On each end of the trail you can pay to use a parking spot and access the letterbox but we found a free area and that will put you within ¼ mile of the letterbox.
From Lake of the Woods drive about 6 miles toward Fish Lake on Hwy 140 and turn in at Brown Mountain Trailhead(The one closest to Fish Lake). Shortly after you turn in you will find parking for about 3 cars near the “High Lakes Trail”.
Head toward Lake of the Woods and in about ¼ mile you will find a junction sign.
High Lake Trail 6200
Fish Lake 1 mile
Lake of the Woods 7 miles
PCT 1 mile
Lava piles can be seen through the trees.
From this sign the letterbox can be found by walking uphill 20 steps at 10 degrees to the base of twin trees (one alive-one dead). Howard likes things that are alive so look at that tree base.
Please rehide where you find him and cover him well as snow falls in this area.
