Nancyanne and her sister, The Olde Oak, went to Ireland and left a couple of letterboxes honoring their parents. Mom's letterbox is an Irish harp even though the harp she plays so beautifully is not, in fact, Irish. We are not quibblers. Mom's Harp is hidden in County Clare on the R477 (sometimes referred to as The Coast Road) just northwest of the village of Ballyvaughan (perhaps 4-5 km). Shortly after leaving Ballyvaughan you will come upon, on the west side of the road, a holy well built in the traditional style of an old Irish church ( and a very small church it is). It is a stone structure with 4 spires. You can't miss it, as the Irish are fond of saying. In time-honored fashion, stand on the stone that's right in front of the well, with your back to the well, and toss a coin over your shoulder. Now, turn and face the well. When we were there, the right side of the well had much better clearance, vegetationally speaking, than the left. Therefore, climb behind the well on the right and clamber over the rocks that seem to form a natural wall. Once over the "wall," take about 12 steps straight ahead, climbing right over the rocks and boulders as you go. You should at this point come to 3 large boulders that form a mini-cave. Not too far into this little cave you will find Mom's Harp, on the left-hand side, under several rocks. Mind the nettles and wear long pants! Hope you enjoy our Mom's Harp and please let us know how it's doing. Thanks!

***Status Update: We have been informed that there was water in the box. This mystifies us as the box was pushed back far enough to shelter it from the weather. Perhaps a critter has given it the occasional shove? At any rate, we note this fact in the hope that you will be sure to shove the box safely back into its hiding spot.***
