Directions:
Head eastward from Charlottetown on Rte 2. Park on the right at the Hillsborough River scenic lookout (across from signs indicating Scotchfort reserve) in Scotchfort. This is the beginning of the Hillsborough River Discovery Drive which is part of the Points East Coastal Drive (http://www.pointseastcoastaldrive.com/Pages/DiscoveryDrives/tabid/58/Default.aspx) on Prince Edward Island. The parking area is along the Hillsborough River and the letterbox is along the hiking/biking trail running parallel.
Our family has enjoyed vacationing and visiting relatives on PEI for many summers. We especially like the picturesque Savage Harbour area and get excited when we spy one of the bald eagles in the area – eagles can also be spotted along the Hillsborough – keep your eyes open!
Clues:
Follow the path to the main hike/bike trail. Turn left.
Proceed to the first large group of trees which has a double-trunked pine on the right.
Continue about 22 paces after the pine. There will be a pine on your left and a tree with smooth, light-colored bark on your right.
Hop over the drainage ditch on your right toward that tree. Behind the tree, you will find the eagle nested beneath two stones from Savage Harbour.
