High on the side of Steens Mountain in southeast Oregon is a lake full of fishes. For some very strange reason, it is called Fish Lake. Team Nana wanted to celebrate our visit, and our fishing success with a letterbox. We truly felt like we were "Sleeping with the Fishes."

To get there:
From the south end of the community of Frenchglen on Oregon highway 205, turn south on the Steens north loop road. Go 16 miles and turn right at the entrance to Fish Lake campground.

The clues:
Turn right again toward the camping area at the west end of the lake.
Park at the west end of the lake where there is a clear area down to the water. You should be on a loop road of campsites.
Walk back the way you came.
Look slightly uphill for a large flatish rock which affords a perfect opportunity to sit and view the lake and surrounding hills, the many birds, and in July, the carpet of wildflowers.
But wait....what about the fish? Do you season your catch with parsley, sage, rosemary or thyme? It is right there, and so is the box beneath it.
