6/11/2023 - I will do my best to go out and see if I can find this box. It's been 15 years and I don't even remember planting it. This was a very long time ago. However, I'll give it a look and I will adjust clues if needed or pull the box if I cannot find it.

Time: About 45 minutes, longer if you hike the entire 2.6 mile trail instead of returning after you have found the box.

This state park provides a wonderful camping and hiking experience, even if some people think your are going to a casino in Milwaukee instead of camping in Door County.

Note: 2008 State Park fees are $7/$10 daily for WI resident/nonresident OR an annual vehicle pass is $25/$35.

From Green Bay: Take State Highway 57 north. Drive about 37 miles to County Highway PD. Turn north on Highway PD and go about 2.4 miles to the park entrance, making sure you pick up a map of the trails.

Clues:

Park in Parking Lot #2, at the trail head for the Hemlock Trail. Take the trail and head North. Hike until you reach the “You Are Here” Trail Marker, at the South-East corner of the campgrounds.

At this spot, continue to climb the trail above the campsites. When the wind is right, you might be able to catch the smell of the campfires up here. Walk this trail until you arrive at the 4th Hemlock Trail Sign.

From this sign, count off 14 steps, and there should be a birch tree on your right. With your back to the birch tree, walking away from the campground, take 14 paces towards the double trunk maple tree, next to a fir tree. You will find the box hidden in the rocks beneath the tree.

Remember to treat the trails, park, and other campers with respect. Seal the book and stamp in their ziplock bags, and reseal the box. Rehide it carefully so it cannot be seen from the trail.
