Marshall Saunders Memorial Park is part of the Boothbay Region Land Trust. It is nestled in Boothbay, just 10 minutes outside of Boothbay Harbor, and is a fun, woodsy, cool walk. The shortest trail is the white trail, and is only .73 miles, so even the littlest of letter-boxers will be able to walk the trail!
Directions: At the traffic light in Boothbay Harbor, take Route 96 and proceed .9 miles. Turn left on Back Narrows Road and travel 3 miles to the stop sign at the intersection with Pleasant Cove Road. There is a small parking area directly across from the stop sign. Park here. You can take a trail map with you, too!
After parking your car, take the white trail on the left. Go over a log bridge, and follow the trail as it skirts around a house on the left (about 400-600 feet away, but seen through the trees).
The white trail will join up with an old logging road, as it takes a 90-degree turn to the right. Stay on the trail down a grade, and you will see a bed of rocks on your left. Don't go over these rocks, but continue up the grade to the right, staying on the white trail.
When you get to the wooden bridge, where you can cross and go onto the blue trail, stop on the trail. Take two more steps toward the vista bench, and look to your right, up a hill. The box is hidden in the roots of a decomposing tree. The box has a blue lid on it, and the box is held down with a 7" rock so it won't blow away or be caught in a landslide!
