Walk directly beside the bus stop to find two granite posts that say Charles River Reservation. Walk through the posts- the river should be on your left. Notice the fallen trees in the water from all of the storms. Continue to the bench and sit on it. Listen for the birds. You may see some cardinals or robins. Up ahead notice the rock at your right. Stop and look at the intricate carving. Also see the Queen Anne's Lace flowers on your left. Stop when you reach the stairs. What way is the river flowing? Keep walking upstream in the opposite direction of the water flow. Listen and walk toward the sound of the rushing water. Stop and look at the Watertown Dam. See the lily pads at your right. Do you see any frogs? Geese? Complete a half circle and walk to the paved trail. Turn left. You will see bushes with berries on your left. Walk until the water is in front of you and behind you at the same time. (Hint: Look for the Northern Arrowwood). (Hint 2: Pool is too far). Once the water is both in front and behind you face upstream. Turn left and continue walking down hill. Follow the dirt path down hill and take the right fork in the Y. Sit at the first bench and then stand up. Sit down and stand up. Now that you're done clowning around turn to your right and count 32 casual paces. Look at the before and after pictures. Do you see the blueback Herring? (Read about their spawning). Can you find the Red Fox? Now walk so that the Queens Anne Lace and Buttercups are on your right. Cross the bridge and walk 10 casual steps. Look behind you to see the purple flowers and small stream on your right. Follow the small stream until a tree is directly in front of you. Look to your right and look for a big old tree. This is where the letterbox lies! Enjoy!
