Background:

The "SKATTAA" LETTERBOX has been placed in memory of Arnold Arsenault Sr.

Arnold Arsenault Sr. passed away in 1990 at the young age of 43. He lived in Spencer his whole life. He was a father to 3 sons and a daughter. He started his own landscaping company called A. Arsenault & Sons Landscaping which is still owned by his family and still operates out of Spencer. Both the company and his family have grown tremendously over the years. Unfortunately, Arnold passed away before ever meeting any of his 11 grandchildren.

The landscaping company is has recently moved from it's original location in Spencer and is actually now located very close by as you will soon see.

Arnold loved hunting and the outdoors. When he was having a good time or something was going his way he would often bellow the word "SKATTAA" with a big goofy grin on his face. Although we weren't quite sure if it was actually a real word or something he simply made up, we all knew what it meant to him; it meant that he was having a good time and enjoying himself.

Wishing you many "SKATTAA" moments of your own!

Clues:

Follow Route 9 into Spencer, MA. This letterbox is in the Pine Grove Cemetery which is located across the street from "FlexCon" and McDonalds on Route 9.

Turn onto Meadow St. at the traffic light between McDonalds & "FlexCon" heading towards "Ernie's Car wash." Ernies will be on your left and the cemetery will be on your right. Turn into the 1st paved entrance of the cemetery directly across from the car wash, from there, take your 1st right and go to the end of that short little paved road (there will be 2-3 large rocks at the end of it). From those rocks face the car wash and walk in that direction to the 4th row of gravestones. Find the stone that has deer engraved on one side of it, and bears the name Arnold Arsenault, (it is located in that 4th row all the way to your left if you are still facing the car wash). Once you find it, feel free to shout out "SKATTAA!" Then follow the rest of these clues to find the "SKATTAA" letterbox!

Facing the deer on the gravestone look to your left. You will see that the pavement heads uphill between two large trees. Walk or drive to the top of that hill then take a sharp left between the two massive pines. Follow the road lined in large pines until you reach a 5 way intersection of roads still within the cemetery. Continue on straight through the intersection and take your 1st right heading towards a large blue barn/building on your right.

There is a wooden fence that runs along the left side of the blue building, walk along the left side of the fence until you reach the end of the fence closest to the edge of the cemetery lined in brush and trees.

From the end of the fence closest to the bushes turn left and walk along that last row of grave stones/markers until you find one bearing the nickname of someone called "Popeye." Walk about 4 steps towards the woods/bushes from the marker for "Popeye." A few feet into the brush locate the 1st large tree to your right. Stand with that tree against your right side and with the "Highway Department" behind you across the street. In front of you about 6-8 feet away and slightly uphill you will see a large Pine tree. To your left you should see a small house which is the new location of A. Arsenault & Son's Landscaping company. You may even see a few trucks bearing his name as well. The box is located at the base of that big pine tree in front of you on the right hand side and hidden by a small pile of rocks.
