Haywire Bay is a Regional Park located on the northern portion of the Sunshine Coast just north of the community of Powell River, BC. It is about 7 km (4.5 miles) drive north of the community. The popular destination is located in a cove on the southeast portion of Powell Lake which is next door to Inland Lake.
Go through the park gates, follow the main road until you reach the main beach (the one with the picnic gazebo). At this point, there will be a trail to the right, follow it until you get to a second beach location; to the left will be a large rock formation, climb it and take a walk around once you get to the top, look across the water and find a bridge in the distance. Standing at the very edge of the cliff, right across from the bridge there will be two small pine trees, the box is located in a hollow at the base of the tree, there's a rock covering the hole.
Happy hunting!
