Clues: Easy, only a few minutes to find the box. Which will leave you lots of time to check out the grounds.

Killlarney National Park located 3.6 miles/6km from Killarney center along the main Kenmore Rd. N71. The vehicle entrance is approximately 1km beyond the Muckross Park Hotel on the right.

The box is located on the grounds & requires no admissions fee. There is a fee to tour the house. The house is well worth the tour & the history fascinating. This is also a great jumping off point to visit Killarney National Park.

Muckross House was built for Henry Arthur Herbert & his wife Mary Balfour Herbert. The Herbert family occupied Muckross for almost 200 years. A visit in 1861 by Queen Victoria bankrupted the family & the house was sold to Lord Ardilaum (of the Guinness Family). Early in the 20th century the Bourne Vincent family of California bought the house & later donated it to the country of Ireland & the National Park was formed.

To find the Letterbox:

Stand outside facing the front of the house. Back up to take in its entire splendor. The jaunting cart parking should be on your left & bicycle parking on your right. Follow the hedge to your right until you come to the stone wall. Down under the corner of the hedge you should find a small gift from the gardens to take home with you.

PLEASE USE DISCRETION AS THIS IS A VERY BUSY TOURIST AREA. STAMP IN & REHIDE WELL.
