This box is part of the Westford Trails series I hope to complete before the winter.

The entire trail loop takes about 30 minutes to complete.

To get to the trail, take Vermont Route 128 into the Westford Village Green. Turn onto Brookside drive (right across from the library) and go about .5 miles until you see the Westford Elementary School on your Left. Enter the school parking lot and park back by the dumpster. In front of you is the sign that marks the Betty Fay Trails. Betty Fay was a longtime principal of the school.

Head straight on the trail, ignoring the immediate turn to the right that you'll see. You'll be following the yellow diamond trail signs as you seek the box.

The trail makes a big bend to the right at a large maple tree that has a yellow trail sign and an arrow pointing right. You'll see a stone wall along the trail on your left.

Follow the next yellow sign and arrow to the LEFT as you see the trail open up wide, a bit out of the woods. You'll soon reach another split in the trail with a boulder. Stay LEFT. At the next split in the trail, stay LEFT again, which will lead you over some rock face, and head down toward the river.

When you seer the river, the trail runs along the right side. In the summer, it gets somewhat overgrown with ferns and grass and it can also be muddy. After a a while, the trail re-enters the woods and you will see a short tower of stones that look like they belong in a stone wall. Behind the tower under a flat rock and two other stones, you will find the box. After stamping, please re-hide so that it cannot be seen from either direction on the trail.

The trail continues on and will loop back to the school. You'll eventually leave the woods and walk along a large field and then walk along the fields for the school as you make your way back to the parking lot. All of the trails in the woods also loop back eventually, so if you would like to explore the Betty Fay Trails, have fun.
