Directions: From Lanesboro MN, travel west on Highway 8, until you reach County Highway 17. Travel south and into the valley. You will see a sign indicating Isinours State Forest on your right, below the letterbox's location. Continue on until you shortly reach a dirt road to your right; Travel a mile and this will bring you to the campground and trailheads for Isinours State Forest. Alternately, you can hop your bike and follow the Root River Trail to the same location.

"Mr. Fox" is a very old cautionary tale from the British Isles, and when placing this letterbox/geocache hybrid, we spotted a young fox resting on the roadside below where the box is hidden...thus the name.

So....like Lady Mary of the tale, head to that place where all the action may be around here....the Isinours campground located just off the Root River bike trail, west of Lanesboro MN.

From here, like Lady Mary, follow the trail taken by Mr. Fox, starting right behind...the toilets! See where he goes by turning right on the trail, climbing higher until you head north along the trail. At this point, you'll be able to perhaps spot the home of Mr. Fox, on county road 17 below. Continue along this trail and like Lady Mary, be bold.

Be bold, be bold, but not TOO bold, or you'll miss the old forest sign along the trailside. Once at this sign, boldly pace about 15 steps past it along the trail.

Now, be bold, be bold, but not TOO bold, lest your blood run cold...as you walk carefully down the slope. You will spot a clear beacon, not more than 30 feet off trail, an old tree that has lost its top.

In here, you will find what Lady Mary did not...a treasure! The container is in the hollowed out tree, a small camo-taped container. It contains a stamp for your book, as well as some trinkets for the geocachers who seek it.

What did Lady Mary of story find? Well, she learned her beloved Mr. Fox was busy killing his potential brides and hauling them off to his hiding place. Luckily, THAT Mr. Fox does not live around here! Have fun.
