11-14-10 Box is alive and well.
Once upon a time this box lived at Hurd Park, but it has since made it's way home to Middlefield. Some of you may already have this image.
Take route 66 to route 147 in Middlefield. Follow route 147 about a half mile to Lake Road, this will be the turn right near the gas station. Follow Lake Road around the end of the lake, then take a left onto Lake Shore Drive. Follow Lake Shore Drive around the lake until you get to Mattabeseck Road. Take a left on Mattabeseck and follow it to the end. You will see a small pulloff on the right. Please do not block the driveway or the gate!
The trail is marked in yellow and makes a loop. Follow yellow counter clockwise up to the top. When you start going back down you will quickly see a shagbark hickory on the right and across the trail on the left a two sister red oak at about 30 degrees. Look to the backside.
To return to your car, continue down the trail on yellow.
