Directions: The box it located at the Ellsworth McAffee park and fields in Northborough. It is located right of Rt. 135 also known as South Street.

Difficulty: Very easy and a short walk.

Soccer is the name of this game. This is our first letterbox we have “kicked” off. We hope you will have as much fun as we had putting it together. You may even want to bring a soccer ball on this easy letterboxing journey.

You are “heading” to a place where youth and families meet. As a soccer loving family, we know that come weekends in Fall and in Spring, this is an especially crowded location. So, be on the “defense” of the non-letterboxing public. Traveling with a ball may “assist” in a good “fake”.

As you enter the Ellsworth McAffee park, go to the “midfield” of the parking lot. Head to the Field of Dreams. Once at the Field of Dreams, walk counterclockwise around the paved track. Head towards and pass the skateboard park. Keep walking, “jogging”, “juggling” or even “dribbling” a ball until you come to station 6 to exercise your quads.

At this station observe the woods to you right. Walk along the edge of the woods in the direction of the large dirt hill (or to your left when facing the woods). Follow the edge of the woods and walk to the end but not “out of bounds”. You will see an “opening” and a path on the right. Take this right. Follow this path until you come to a bend in the path that goes to the right. At this bend you will “pass”a manhole cover sticking out of the grassy field of weeds on your left. Don’t “breakaway” this clue will help you know that you are almost there. Just after you make the “bend” (but no need to "Bend it like Beckham", he is on the wrong team) look “offsides” to the edge of the woods for a large boulder about 5-6 feet inside the tree line. You have now reached your “Goal” and should now gain “possesion” of the letterbox. Look behind the rock for the covered up box.

Inside you will find a “red card” and appropriate colored markers and a stamp of a team that represents talent, sportsmanship, and intelligence. Overall, they are a team of great role models that represent what the game of soccer is all about to today’s youth. I recommend you get tickets to a game. It is great fun for a family and adults alike. Please carefully replace the box and cover well.

Go Northboro Youth Soccer!
