Location: Eastern Neck National Wildlife Refuge
Difficulty: Paved, one-third mile loop.
Directions: For directions to the Eastern Neck National Wildlife Refuge, see the Marsh Frog Letterbox clues. From the Wildlife Trail parking area, turn left onto Route 445 and then take an immediate right towards the Refuge Headquarters. Park at the end of the road, behind the building.
Notes: Deer hunting is allowed in Eastern Neck National Wildlife Refuge on a few specific dates. The Refuge is closed to the public on hunting days ... see the Eastern Neck NWR website for details (try clicking on the deer hunting application for the dates in question).
Clues: The trail starts and ends at the gazebo ... head to the right. Just past the Common Paw Paw on the left is a large upright log leaning against another tree, with pieces of bark all around. Behind this wood conglomerate, under a piece of bark, is the Bay View Letterbox. After stamping in, continue to the left to an observation deck with free binoculars. Here you can see the object portrayed in the stamp before finishing the trail loop.
