I visited this letterbox today 3/2/12 to find the box and book to be wet but the stamp still there. It now has a new book. You might want to bring your own ink and pen - not too sure how long they will last.
SUNNY VALLEY PRESERVE
8 Sunny Valley Lane, New Milford, CT 860-355-3716
Hiking, birding, ongoing activities
Less than ½ mile with moderate climbs.
Park by the green garage and take the path behind the garage toward the preserve. Turn right onto the white trail and follow it up the hill 1/4 mile to the large cliff of rock boulders. Recent storms have done some damage to the trails so be prepared to step over fallen trees. Stay focused on staying on the marked trail. The trail turns right just past the boulders. Walk 15 steps up the brief incline and stop at the first tree with a white blaze - take a reading of 300 degrees and go 20 steps to the twin oak tree.
Take a reading of 250 degrees and go 15 steps to the big rock at the crest of the ridge between two trees. Reach under the left side of the rock for some sunshine.
