Finally had a chance to replace the original box. The original letterbox went missing early June 2009. I had a very sad little girl! Hopefully this one doesn't go missing. Have fun letterboxing.
This is the first letterbox we have hidden. It was placed in honor of our daughter's fifth birthday. It is hidden in Oak Leaf Park. This is a wonderful park to spend the day. It has a 9 hole disc golf course, sand volleyball court, horseshoes, playground, basketball court, softball and baseball fields, wildlife sanctuary, and lots more! But our favorite an Outdoor Aquatic Center, with zero entry for little ones and a 150 foot flume slide!!!! So if you come letterboxing during the summer, bring your swimsuit! You can see the park from Highway 212 but cannot get to it from the highway.
Clues: Find Hennipen Avenue, it crosses over Highway 212. Once over the bridge the park will be the third right turn. After coming to a stop sign , turn right. Coming to the next stop sign turn left. Drive along until just before you come to the metal shed used by the park department, park by the evergreens. There is a trail that starts here. On the left will be a pond and on the right a sign thats says no dogs/or motorized vehicles. Walk until you come to a T in the trail-go right. Keep going until you see a green bench, sit and watch the deer and elk for awhile. After a little ways you will come to a 60 foot boardwalk. The path will turn left. Ater a little farther you will come to two trees in the middle of the trail-look to the left and you will see four Mighty Oak Trees. Shortly past this is a fence, count the post, the letterbox is hidden behind the eighth post. There is a bench just a little past this, perfect to sit and stamp the logbook and look at the Mighty Oak Trees. Please recover with sticks.
