THE INDIAN RESTING PLACE
NOTE - 10/12/2009 Get A new map with the trail blaze changes These clues have been changed to use the new map and new color of the blazes .
You will need a map for The Oswegatchie Hills Nature Preserve .
www.oswhills.org
The hiking is great at Oswegatachie Hills. You might want to rest along the way as there are many ups and downs and great rocky ledges on most of the trails.
There is a sweet Indian Resting Place about mid way in the preserve. It is on the Orange Trail .
Using the map , hike to the Orange Trail , either from the north , or the south, your choice .
After many ups and downs , you will come to a large smooth rock in the middle of the trail . In the middle of the smooth rock is a two sister tree growing right out of the rock . There is an old yellow blaze on one of the sisters , but you will have to look for it ! Stand at the two sister tree and take a few steps at 60 degrees to the edge of the rock . There , just move a small stone, and hiding in a tiny cave is The Indian Resting Place .
This letterbox is right on the trail , so please hide it back and cover it well .
Hope you have fun in the preserve.
