Directions to the Belknap Black Cat Letterbox
Begin at Belknap Woods Trail head on Rte 25B, at the base of Dog Cove on Squam Lake. Follow signs and yellow tree blazes for Beaver Pond Loop (1 mile). At t-junction, where it gives you the option to go right or left for the loop, go RIGHT. As you near the beaver pond, look for a fairly large birch tree that has fallen halfway to the ground. Right after the birch tree, see a large double boulder on the left with a large crack down the middle and a piece of rock broken off in the middle. When facing the rock, walk around to the right, get down on your hands and knees and look under the rock. Crawl WAY under the overhang and hidden BEHIND the rock on the ground under the overhang is the letterbox. Look WAY back and under as it is not visible unless you are on your tummy and under the overhang of the boulder.
If you pass the beaver pond on the left, you have missed the big boulder. Have fun!
